Sitauted on Suomenlinna Island, the renowned UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Toy Museum Helsinki is a great one to induldge in a bit of childhood nostalgia.
The museum's collection of toys date from the beginning of the 19th century up to the 1970s, featuring hundreds of dolls, around a hundred classic and historic teddy bears and other popular toys from the 19th-20th centuries.
The toys in the collection are from Finland and reflect Finnish games and social history, including from the wartime.
The cosy private museum also has a cafe and a museum shop in the same building. The museum has a guidebook in Finnish, Swedish, English, German and Russian that visitors can borrow.
